This page answers some simple questions on Kissu's functionality, support, dev tools and hotkeys
Feel free to make a thread on whatever board seems appropriate. Each board has it's own set personality and general guidelines. For some idea of what is and isn't considered appropriate you could read the rules.
Kissu uses a traditional system where users are ejected outside of threads on every post. This is designed to force people into looking at the whole site and not one or two threads. Some boards have exceptions to this, but for others you can use the options field to stay inside. Input noko into the options field to stay inside the thread. Noko does not visibly show up on your reply and you can have it enabled forever.
Kissu is an imageboard created by Verniy and Cool-Guy in 2018 with help from users who left 4chan's /qa/ board. It uses a custom-built user interface inspired by CCD0's 4chanX extension running on top of a heavily modified Vichan engine. It hosts a variety of Japanese themed content and strives to keep it easy.
Observe the mannerisms of others and feel free to take part in whatever conversations sparks your interest. If you have something interesting to say you could even make a thread.
Unlike other imageboards, Kissu uses pages on everything to make it easier for the site to load on your browser.
On the user interface catalog and index pages go up by one each page. Every 6 index pages is one catalog page, every catalog page is 90 threads. You don't need to know these details though, all features work the same as you might expect them to.
On a thread the last page is the most recent post page. For the most part you can treat this like a simple variation on the standard forum, but it's a bit more complicated than that. The explanation is not that important, but if you want to know the details:
When enough replies are made the oldest reply drains out onto a new page. As the pages fill up it creates another page. Think of it kind of like a bucket filling up with water. When your bucket gets full, instead of putting it down and getting a new one, you poke a hole in the bottom and let the old stuff drain out into another bucket. When the catcher bucket is full, you swap out that bucket for a new one. This is a system blending forums with imageboard archives and allows threads with many posts to exist.
If you target a specific post in the thread using cites, the software will take you to the page the post is on.
Threads and replies can be easily hidden by clicking on the dropdown and brought back from the sidebar. There is also the hotkey Shift+Left Click. Hiding a thread fully removes it from the UI without any post stubs. Boards may also be hidden from the options. When hiding a reply to a thread it will only be unhidable from within that thread. Hidden threads, boards and replies become inaccessible from anything other than URLs and cite links
Excluding /all/, clicking on the RSS icon in the sidebar brings up the recent post feed. This contains all recent posts on the website excluding threads and boards you have hidden. If you've chosen to watch a thread by clicking on the crescent moon icon then the post stub will be located here as well.
By clicking on [Toggle-UI] or using original.kissu.moe you can use the Legacy/Vichan UI. Kissu's Legacy UI reduces the number of features and is best for people who want a lightweight website. The Legacy UI is a perfectly valid alternative and will be supported on Kissu forever.
Respect fellow users. See the rules page for more info.
Kissu has a pass system to bypass captchas, proxy bans, posting queues and filters. If you want a key to this send a donation through Patreon or Crypto currency. You will get a key and a thank you through your email or Patreon within a day providing you use a valid email address.
See my donations page for other ways to support myself and Kissu
By clicking on [ Options ] there is a tab which lists all the hotkeys and allows you to customize most of them.
The Kissu-UI has an application API which allows for developers to create userscripts for Kissu. For more details see: https://github.com/ECHibiki/Kissu-Fr-API-Docs/blob/main/README.md
Kissu has many JSON info files. One developed for the Vichan UI and the other for the Kissu UI. For more details see: https://github.com/ECHibiki/Kissu-JSON-API-Docs/blob/main/README.md
Source code for the Kissu-UI and the Hazuki API engine are private. The modified Vichan engine and it's user interfaces are available on request. There is a version on my github which you can find if you're interested, though it is not regularly updated or intended for others to make use of.
