Here's a great comparison of the manga vs the anime, the direction is looking great. I also know at least eps 2 and 3 are going to continue looking great, since I watched their leaked version.

It probably works if you are American and so live around that kind of language and think it's normal. It doesn't work for many non-Americans and it does not work relative to the language it's meant to be a translation off. That's a huge issue that I have with translations in general, they are quite US centric.

I think most non-Americans are able to figure out what ween means. I'd say that US subs are only a problem when they go overboard with the localisation such as converting metric to imperial, yen to dollars, and so on.

That kind of dialogue is mostly used by working class men(particularly trades people) and masculine working class women. My relatives don't speak like that and so I never adopted that kind of language and some of those words I have never even heard before. But I have also been a NEET or some would even say a Hikkikomori ever since I finished highschool so I am probably quite unusual and I am quite insulated from how people actually talk in real life, particularly in social situations. Though having said that, most people at my highschool didn't talk like that either.
