How do you keep track of your favorite artists' new pics?
Back in the good old days of 2008, you could just hop on Danbooru or Gelbooru, and you were set. But now, you've got Twitter, Pixiv, the boorus, patreons, paywalls... It's a mess of crappy sites that make it impossible to keep things organized.
Most of my favorites are saved on SankakuBooru, but that site is turning into absolute garbage with its limited searches, limited blacklist options, and to top it off, it’s slow as hell.

Yeah, yeah, I get it. Their clickbait news site sucks, but the booru USED TO BE GOOD.

I follow their Twitter, Bluesky, Misskey and Pixiv.
I go on Twitter twice a day, and the other websites once. Everywhere but Twitter has an easy to follow chronological timeline with all posts, but as Twitter doesn't hide repeated retweets I am forced to use their algorithmical timeline, which to be fair is pretty good and generally gets me about 95% of the good images posted every day. Apart from ads I don't see a single post on Twitter which is not art or niche discussion, so I'd say I'm pretty satisfied with it. Misskey and Bluesky are 90% Twitter reposts so they're still not very useful but I'm keeping tabs on them for the day that JP artists move there en masse and don't return.
Here's a nice picture I saved today in the first Twitter browsing session.

To me at least it feels like Gelbooru has 99% of all good images, I do follow some artists on Pixiv and if I find a new artists I like I will browse through their work on Gelbooru and Pixiv to make sure I have seen everything. Most of the time I do but sometimes their might be a sketch or something that was not posted on Gelbooru plus if the image is on both Pixiv and Gelbooru then I feel that downloading the one on Pixiv is better as it's where the image was originally uploaded. Though really they are exactly the same but still.

I have not used Twitter in a long time and I didn't use it for very long when I did, I don't liek the format and last I heard you could not upload PNGs so image quality is always reduced if it's on Twitter, though of course some artists upload JPGs to Pixiv as well in which case it does not matter.

Oh and I also use Konachan. It only features high quality images and so it doesn't upload much content per day but what it has is good and often from tags that I don't follow so it's easy to keep up with and shows me high quality images I might have missed.

Honestly I just use exhentai so I'm as behind as possible and other then that just use gelbooru or danbooru honestly I'm content with the stuff on my SSD so its whatever.
Sankaku has too many "fan" edits of stuff and that is kimo as fuck.

pretty much always booru because of good tagging making finding contents much easier, and i don't have to use web browser since there are lots of native booru clients with better browsing experience

Dan and Gelbooru, Pixiv, twatter, Fanbox and Fantia.
Only reason I use twitter is because some artists either exclusively post there or they don't upload on Pixiv until months later.

Fuck twitter. I hate twitter before even Musk bought it. (You know what and I think he's doing a better job at it but I still don't want to go on it.)

>feels like Gelbooru has 99% of all good images
there are some cases i've ran into where the artist is obscure enough or not very popular that makes it so some or most of their work isn't covered, i've tried uploading images but they want me to first write ERP comments to farm points with as a requirement and i am not going to do that
sometimes the images don't even have a source or author marked, it's weird but it happens
a couple of those artists i've followed on pixiv, like 眠子 who has over 200 pics and none of them are on gel or dan

why? upload to danbooru instead, gelbooru will scrape from them

they will? I'll try it out later then

it's well known that most gelbooru images are scraped from danbooru, and you can tell from the uploader name

What do you mean by writing ERP comments to farm points? Do you mean actual ERP or just commenting on pictures?
I honestly forgot about the comment section, I blocked it a long time ago and I forget why. Probably because of stupid posts about boobs all the time or something.

Is that the artist you are talking about? If so they look to be more of a unique taste so it makes sense that Gelbooru does not have them.

If it's not on the boorus, it doesn't exist for me

OP can't inb4

oh yeah that part i know what i didn't know is that will let me upload stuff more easily
>>134564
you have a score requirement that can only be fulfilled by getting upvoted on the comments section, which is indeed predominantly ero

 No.134568

>>134567
it has a high requirement of tag quality and the uploads need to be manually approved, but it doesn't have nonsense requirements and all you need to do is upload image and tags

 No.134578

>>134563
gelbooru is great for uploading stuff that is still alright but not likely to get approved at db though

I really don't have the motivation to bookmark artists and follow them the way I used to. I follow some on pixiv, but that's about it. I'm not going to make a social media account. Dan/gelbooru is pretty good at finding new artists to look up by searching for characters or something and finding good images in the results and that's mostly how I "discover" artists, but if I see a "source: twitter" I just forget it. I don't care about food blogs or all the garbage associated with social media itself. I don't know how you'd find an artist that only makes original works.
I'm sure the furries have made a better system, they're always ahead in this kind of thing.

Pixiv allowing AI was a huge mistake. Filters do a decent job, but the damage has been done.

Back in the day I used people's booru.org boards for the hyper specific shit but that site's been dying since the beginning of the decade. These days I use Twitter and Bluesky even if I'm not a fan of either.
