This hasn't stopped Takahashi from rehashing Xenogears though, Xenoblade 2 in particular is very much a rehash of Perfect Works (his original plan from the 1990s to make Xenogears into a trilogy), there's a ton of parallels between XB2 and XG.
Xenoblade 2 may or may not be canonically connected to Xenosaga though in some weird metaverse way (Bamco's lets Monolith Soft use the Xenosaga IP still, fortunately), and Xenosaga is supposed to be connected to Xenogears despite legal issues.

So, it's easier to just slap in a few dozen cg cars than drawing them because all of the intensive perspective work is already done by virtue of it being 3D cg.

There should be some momentum in the movement controls and perhaps even in aiming. Each step should make a suitably heavy sound instead of being silent, you could also add some camera sway so it doesn't feel like you're floating.

Gundam seems pretty great. Seeing 2D mecha in the age of 3D is so good. The ships are 3D, but I can tolerate it because they don't move.

Anonymous 10/10/22 (Mon) 06:14:56 No. 97968 >>97969
>>97965 Yes, they are not practical. To make a mech practical you would make it prone so it was a smaller target and easier to hide and so you had less area to worry about armouring, then you would remove the arms and place the weapon on it's back in some kind of turret, you would remove the legs and give it tracks and then you just have a tank anyway.
The only uses for a mech/walker type thing would be in moving heavy weapons over terrain tanks can't operate in like a walking cannon to operate in mountains. Though some terrain would be even worse for a mech than a tank, like muddy ground as the mech would have more ground pressure. And also the other use would be in exo-skeleton type systems that would enable a soldier to fight much more protected, though that has issues as well but in some situations it might work.
Anonymous 10/10/22 (Mon) 06:16:49 No. 97969 >>98016
>>97968 Actually I am an idiot. Muddy ground would not effect mechs in the same way anyway, so they might be able to operate there.

>>107432 I'm not sure where they go with this movie, let alone a sequel. Never watched the old tokusatsu stuff, but the both the Gridman and Dynazenon animes felt more like the stories of the antagonists (plus Gauma in Dynazenon's case). It's like... how can you have Gridman without Akane or Dynazenon without the Kaijuu Eugenicists? I guess the protagonists can fight a new enemy, but it felt like their roles were done at the ends of their respective series.
I still think the crossover movie might be cool, but for another series I'd rather see a new "SSSS." setting with new characters, maybe with Gridknight and Nidaime as recurring side characters to build continuity.

I also noticed a trend in the fandom, where the japanese stuff is seen as deeper and more adult when for the most part it's lighter, sillier and very meta. Like a parody toku series.
