put 50% into high yield short term bonds at banks, so my losses in equities is being countered by interest from loans. But I suppose if my interest is being put back into stocks am I really much better off. One has to wonder.

I did mostly stop this year, I just ignored it and hoped things would get better. I am probably going to sell them all next year to get a house anyway.

 No.1535

don't have any money at all and are only alive by the grace of my parents

I think in that case that it's good to have an investment in the things you own. If you don't want to market a skill then understand the things you buy. The things you buy can be seen as investments.

That's the best investment plan if you don't have many siblings or your parents have lots of houses, I have 4 siblings so I have to get my own house one day.

I could have sold last summer and made 5k profit.
But I just had to be greedy sigh..

 No.1540

i dont have much but i invested it in like october and ended up selling everything in november seeing that it had gone up for fear of going into the red
it went well since i at least gained $300 but i think ill have to really learn to invest well before i put it back in

The best ways of doing it is to put it into either dividend yielding stocks which repay your investment in 20 months for example (bank stocks are like this) or find oversold companies that are reliable and bag hold until it goes over the evaluation.

You can invest in real-estate even if you only have 300$ through REITs. Real estate owning companies pay out 90% of their profits to shareholders. While you don't own a property you collect dividends off of the growth of commercial, residential or industrial real-estate

Savings and investments is such an alien concept to me. I just wasn't born into that class and it's a world I'll never enter

bought a marijuana company stock because I thought it couldn't go lower than 1.50$
I think since December I would be slightly positive if it weren't for them.

I paid my house off before making any serious investments so as long as it gets better sometime in the next 10 years or so I'll be fine. Once you're free from rent and mortgage you end up with more money than you know what to do with.

the price looks like all these p&d scam cryptos
it's dead

 No.1577

that's not really fair, because you can see that currently they're a company that is trying to make a profit in a heavily regulated industry

I mean, surviving the 2008 financial crisis or any super crisis is probably an exception because it was an exceptional time.

I was down like 6k since I bought the dip a bit before it really fell, but now I'm up 1k. Hooray for waiting.

Sold it by accident. Did a limit sell order instead of a stop sell order.
Decided to get HMMJ.TO which is ETF containing medical cannabis among others pharmaceuticals. Has a 0.87% MER which is unfortunate, but probably don't want to be dealing with individual pharmaceutical companies myself and will likely return better than a single random canabis company
