Is it just me or is it getting harder to download shows you watched from 10+ years agos because it seems like every torrent has 0 seeds?

Well I use AB, so...

It is and that's the main advantage of private trackers. I have waited literal months to download some things from nyaa.

It's just the natural death of old seeds, I guess. I try to keep all of my old stuff active and I'm the last (or next to last) seeder for some stuff on nyaa or ex. I also use AB, but I still try to seed rarer stuff on public sites.
If you're looking for something in particular, someone here could look for it for you maybe.

I seed almost every single romance show from 2000 to 2010, and a pretty large amount from 2010-2015. Well over 100TB seeded so far this year. A lot of romcoms and ecchi shows. Many of them are not popular or well known.
I've written this a couple times, but I only use public trackers and most of the stuff I seed initially had 0-10 seeders and some of them took days to download due to the only seeder going offline a lot of the time and only giving 100kbps, but now they are pretty fast, or at least appear to be when I see people connecting to me. Private trackers are an illusion of privacy and there is nothing stopping public trackers from doing quality control in who uploads either. The entire private tracker scene is a scam to restrict content and for a few individuals to feel smug and working against the interests of having shows easily available. "Muh leeches" they complain, as if they have never leeched anything. There's no leech, they're enjoyers! I don't always seed either. If I'm quickly downloading a movie on my phone for an airflight you're damn right I'm gonna "leech".
At least by using public only I am helping actually keeping stuff available.
Private trackers have no good excuses. It doesn't even work against copyright trolls, they always get access hence why some trackers even prohibit certain content. It's all bullshit arbitrary gatekeeping. I suspect many of them are the same people selling invites to profit of their work. I'm not paying money to commit piracy crimes.

I feel like ranting every few times this topic comes up. It infuriates me.

I get stuff on private trackers that I have a much harder time finding on public sites, so nuh uh.
As for the politics of those sites and their forums, yeah they're bad, I don't care, I avoid all that.

>I get stuff on private trackers that I have a much harder time finding on public sites, so nuh uh.
Yeah, that is exactly my point. It's just bullshit gatekeeping that reduces availability for people who aren't insiders. There is literally zero reason why this content can't be uploaded on public trackers.

A big problem is nyaa's account registrations have been "temporarily closed" for years now. You could consider it quasi-private. You can help seed, but anyone that wants to contribute in a more active way is out of luck. Who knows what will happen to it in the future, but I don't expect account creation to ever be opened again.
I'm someone that only makes an account if absolutely necessary, so part of nyaa is simply cordoned off to me.

>Yeah, that is exactly my point.
Oh, I misunderstood your post and thought you were offering reasons for why private trackers did not even succeed at the goal of having more stuff than public trackers.

Everything I seed through AB I also seed through public trackers. It's an alternative that provides greater incentive to seed long-term, not a black hole of content.

Anidex exists.

 No.115363

It doesn't have to be one or the other. I download from public trackers and only delete torrents when they reach a ratio of 10, and I also use private trackers for better retention, quality control and organization. I've also gotten people on private trackers to buy and upload stuff that wasn't previously available on the internet by offering sufficiently large bounties, can't do that on public trackers.

You know, Utawareumono S3 BD (and its included mini VN) was never uploaded anywhere. Just thought you'd like to know.

Private trackers are good for torrent retention because they force people to keep their client open. That's their main feature in my opinion.

>>115360
You can upload torrents anonymously iirc.

Did they ever explain why nyaa account creation was disabled?
