I watched Hidamari and FMA with my lil bro while on a roadtrip like eight-nine years ago, then Nichijou after that
In the last couple years I got him to watch Madoka and Eva
That's the best I've got

>>117232I guess in the sense of watching anime with them, or perhaps recommending/discussing manga or VNs (although I doubt many people would seriously dicuss eroge with their family). Playing games together could technically count, but most multiplayer games probably wouldn't be considered as "otaku" realistically.

My little brother got me into anime by recommending FMA.

My oldest brother likes watching the more normal anime. One Piece, Full Metal Alchemist, Attack on Titan. You know, pretty popular stuff. He couldn't get into Steins;Gate unfortunately even though he sought it out on his own so I don't think he will ever delve deeper into becoming a die hard Otaku. Just a good old casual Anime enjoyer which is fine too.

She might like it, I do.

I'm an only child and my parents are much older so there was never really any hobby sharing. My parents know I like anime but they don't know anything about it. My dad mentioned he watched like 2 eps of the Cowboy Bebop anime after the kuso live-action brought attention to it, but then he never brought it up again so I assume he never watched more.

My Grandmother knows I fansub but she's never asked to watch anything I've helped out with. Never seen her watch anime at all. Both my parents don't watch animated stuff at all. My younger brother watches some stuff but his knowledge of otaku stuff is very limited and mostly comes from stuff he's seen second hand on twitch. No idea if my imouto watches anime because I rarely see her at all maybe once every 3-4 years.
I mostly only watch anime with one IRL friend but he's mostly into stuff like MF Ghost and Initial D. He's watched some stuff I've suggested but his tastes aren't like my own. I did manage to get him to watch Onimai but genderbender stuff gives him the creeps. Miku is his waifu to give you an idea of where he's at.
Growing up I mostly hid my interests from people around me because the place I grew up in was 30 years behind the rest of America. My Japanese teacher even took me aside once when she found out I liked anime to shame me for being an otaku. She told me I'd never get anywhere in life if I watched anime and played video games. She turned out to be correct.

My cousin went through an anime phase where he watched the popular shounens as well as ecchi comedies like angel that fell from the sky or something like that.
I think Naruto was the only anime we both saw but there was not much to talk about with him about it. I tried to get him to watch Fate but he came across Prisma Ilya and was turned off by it(I never told him that I watched it).
He does not watch anime any more.
None of the other members of my Family watch or know anything about anime, they haven't even played Pokemon. Maybe I will get my nephew to play Pokemon when he is old enough so I have somebody to talk to about something Otaku related at least.
My sister went into my room while I was away and found my Fumos and my family made fun of me for that but were not interested in what they were or where they were from, they just called them creepy dolls.
I'm the outsider of the family now as I just don't have any common ground with them anymore.

I also had a cousin who was into it that I would watch Gundam Wing, Berserk, and a bit more with when we lived near each other. The rest of my family knew about my interests and thought I was a freak of nature for singing J-Pop in my room and my grandma thought I was trying to sing opera while singing along with Malice Mizer.
