Migi to Dali
No.118444
I'd say Right and Left as well, if only because Frieren should be on 2024.
Trigun's 3D was pretty legendary and Bleach's animation high quality. But story less interesting.
No.118445
Dang, I'll have to give Migi another try then, I got the vibe it was just fujobait and dropped it

Also, people on AniList are raving about "Kusuriya no Hitorigoto" but nobody seems to care that much on imageboards

No.118451
josei sounds more correct, but the term isn't used often on imageboards to mean female demographic

I'm not a huge fan of the apothecary show, but I don't like settings such as the depressing ancient Chinese court with all its unfair bureaucracy and betrayal unless the protagonist is destroying/fixing it.
I'm not someone that ever create a favorite in these situations and I think I say that every time, so I will instead say stuff I liked the most.
Favorite relaxing/comedy shows:
Megami no Cafe (really underappreciated and it's getting a S2!)
PRECURE! (really good this year!)
Idolmaster 149 (needs no qualifier)
One Hit Kill Neesan (another thing underappreciated I think, a fantastic debut for a studio)
Jijou wo Shiranai Tenkousei ga Guigui Kuru (the one with the shy girl with the /qa/ voice, very cute and sometimes very emotional)
Vending Machine (surprisingly fun, an isekai where the guy isn't elevated to godhood)
Favorite fun/serious shows (it does both):
Oshi no Ko (Kana's presence determines whether an episode is good or not)
Frieren (doesn't really need explanation)
Migi to Dali (great surreal-ish experience that hits the right emotions and has a proper ending)
Buddy Daddies (Miri is great to cheer for)
Kaminaki (great faces and good humor and just overall a very fun experience)
Favorite shows that started amazing but largely threw away their best parts later on, but were still great enough to mention:
Benriya Saitou (short stories involving the handyman's skills were its strength, but I still liked the later generic fantasy parts later on)
Helck (lost its comedy and the 2 month long flashback was a terrible decision)
Level 1 Maou (some dumb battle involving human/demon politics was not what I started watching it for)
16-bit Sensation (the fantasy elements of the story were ehhhh)
Favorite serious shows:
Kyokou Suiri S2 (love the fluffy hair girl)
Hikari no Ou (if only it had a higher budget)
Trigun Stampede (glad someone streamed it because I had no faith in 3D, but it's great)
Revenger (just simply fantastic with great direction and it's an original)
Dark Gathering (even though I dislike horror, the story and visuals are so good)
Favorite Undead Unluck show:
Undead Unluck!
Undead Unluck is just so overall amazing that I can't put it into a category. It fills me with chuuni excitement every week and the visuals are a true treat that you don't see very often. But, I still can't say it's my favorite because it's UNfair to compare genres and small studios and so on. It's also only halfway finished.

>>118459Nope, they keep the plastic hair and sometimes the scenes are overly, uh, glow-y and bloom-y for lack of a better term, like they're in a flashback sequence.
But, it's just such a lovable cast of characters and so charming and adorable and sometimes tear-inducing (of sadness and happiness) that it fills me with a pining nostalgia for something I never experienced. The scenes with the dad are really nice, too, which is something you don't see very often.
If you watch it, please make a thread or at least posts about it somewhere because I want to know what you think!

I agree about fairness, but listing honorable mentions is OK.

Oh, and I forgot to mention Spy X Family, but maybe it wasn't worth mentioning since it's so ubiquitous.
>>118462Nope. I can't do it. It doesn't make sense to me to rank things that are so different from each other.

I really enjoyed the Gridman Universe film but it only really works as a victory lap for the shows if you were already a bought in fan.
Amemiya is a pretty cool guy.

>>118478I don't like musical or idol stuff except for rare exceptions (other traits overpowering them mostly) so it's not something that even entered my radar. Do they really not have Spy X Family or Undead Unluck on there? Sometimes I really struggle to understand those people. (Well, Undead is unappreciated overall...)

>>118480>I don't like musical or idol stuff except for rare exceptions (other traits overpowering them mostly) That's MyGO. It's considered a hidden gem because it alienated people using 3D animation and the previous Bang Dream seasons leaned more into the slice of life side of things. In short, it's a well written drama/passion project. It's not a musical with forced insert songs or an idol anime at all.
It's also hinted in interviews that the writers wanted to deconstruct the themes of their own series. They did a promotional ARG for one of the new bands introduced in it. Around 1:50 in this video, the girl skips songs from the bands in previous seasons until she finds their debut song.
But to be fair, I also think all 'best of the year' polls are always biased toward shows aired in fall. Bocchi also aired during the last season of 2022.

No.118589
Kaminaki, no contest.
The first half of the show had a great setup with power levels being tied to follower count and all the tricks the humanely ruthless cult leader Yukito used in order to increase it, even after it switched gears to archon battles you still had great moments like Mitama bashing her head in furious dogeza to get the truGoddess to shut down Dakini's powers.
The hype was through the roof and people were making tons of pics, my folder has 279 files without counting the screenshots I took, and one I made got reposted over a hundred times. It's sad that there were no puppets in the end and how in the later part of the show the animation somehow got even worse, but that only speaks to the talent of these people who knew how to make full use of their budget (five Argentinean pesos). It's unbelievable that one of its best executed jokes used like four frames per minute and still managed to get hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube before the clip was taken down, when half of it didn't even exist in the manga (
