Kissu is four years old! Stream has concluded!
You WERE cordially invited to the annual streaming of
Tsukuyomi Moon Phase, the namesake of this corner of the internet known as
Kissu! Kissu was born on December 1st, 2018, and since streaming is done on weekends for the benefit of those people that have things known as "lives", the stream will start on
Friday, December 2nd at 6PM EST/11PM UTC.*Currently the plan is to watch 13 episodes on the 2nd and then 13 more (12 + OVA) on the 9th, which is what we did in previous years. However, I'm also open to splitting it up into 3 weeks since 5 hours of streaming is a pretty long time.
Questions? Comments? Neko mimi modo?
*Timezones are a major pain and sadly some people will be left out, but if there is enough interest maybe someone can organize a stream for the Eastern hemisphere and I could provide you with the stuff you need.

2 streams seems good to me, but we should add some neat things to the stream for this rewatch, I think.

Maybe next week I'll find out why Hazuki didn't burn when she stepped into the sunlight to stake Kinkel.
No.100548
It reminds me of Shakugan no Shana from all the SoL of living with your future wife mixed with mortal danger from her associates.

>>100548Hazuki gets way more cute outfits than Shana ever did, but I like them both.

The silly parts made it hard to care about the serious parts but overall this anime looked cool+cute
No.100794
>>100785Interesting. I'm usually worried that when someone watches for the first time that the serious parts turn them off from the silly parts. I thought the serious parts were done quite well, but it's true that they generally break them up with dead
pan humor. (I wonder if that term was the inspiration for the pans).
What did you think of the general style? I think one of the more interesting parts about it are these bissected views of the house.
And of course Hazuki's many stylish outfits.
No.100795
>>100794>What did you think of the general style?liked it. was already familiar with SHAFT weirdness from Hidamari Sketch.
dunno I don't really have sophisticated sounding opinions about anime that I watch, I just think "I liked this!" and "I liked that!"
No.100800
>>100797yah, I'd have to watch more anime and take notes on who directed stuff, who was the storyboarder for each episode, etc. I don't know enough about how anime is produced to be able to attribute a particular thing in anime to a particular guy's role. Like when people say something has good direction, how do you know it's the direction?? what if the producer was good instead, what if the sound is good in a scene because the SFX foley guy was good instead? things like that. bad at literary analysis too
No.100803
>>100795>I don't really have sophisticated sounding opinions about anime that I watch, I just think "I liked this!" and "I liked that!"Sounds like Shaft fans in general, despite their reputation as "pretentious DEEPfags" or whatever. I just like how creative they get when compensating for their lack of animation budget.
I can't remember if Tsukuyomi had any of that, but I remember liking the anime.
Not including the final arc what the heck.
No.100809
>>100808Yeah, if there's anything it has, it's great visuals and great music.
No.100810
>>100803I wouldn't necessarily say the animation was top of the class, but I never felt like it was lacking. It's not something that was needed for most of it. There are certainly moments where you notice the increased attention like that, but the parts with less animation didn't feel empty to me. I would certainly prefer that everything was as high budget as her introduction in episode 1, but alas we don't live in such a world. But, I've never been one for those needlessly confrontational arguments over what anime is worthy of respect so I can't say I have knowledge of what those people say about it.
I think the general style and incredible atmosphere and music more than make up for any possibly animation cuts.
No.100820
>>100794The silly parts were fine, though still nothing that was crack-up funny or that really endeared the characters to me. The problem I had with it was that the serious parts dominated the show, so it felt like a serious anime with some joke segments thrown in to lighten the tone. I think it's an issue with a lot of these 2000s urban fantasy anime where they kind of dabble in everything looking for isolated moments of "that was cool" that don't always fit together well. The heaping on of new, ill-defined superpowers every time something happened is a symptom of this, as are the fanservice montages of different outfit stills (not that I mind fanservice).
You've got cute, silly stuff like Hazuki walking to the hospital in the dumb cat costume interrupted by fake death melodrama, and you've also got cool, serious stuff like the fight scenes at the end thrown off by random pan drops. I was hoping it'd be mostly comedy SoL episodes about Hazuki slowly adapting to life outside, maybe with some romcom shenanigans after the loli mikos were introduced, and keep the action in the background or for big climax scenes. It also could have worked if they'd focused purely on the plot and just had some cool-off episodes here and there, but the mix-and-match approach makes it really hard for me to get invested.
Visuals and style are just Shaft at the middle of their game. Some neat stuff, but it feels really muted compared to how flamboyant their later stuff is.
No.100860
>>100820True, there was quite a bit of serious stuff and I agree with the strange thematic shifts. I always remember the serious parts as being far less than they actually are, maybe because I think about the cute SoL stuff more. I did like how the very last episode was very happy and celebratory, however, instead of the "bad guy is gone, roll the credits" situation.

There is no stream tomorrow because this thread is from last year! (at least not planned, someone could do something as last second if they wanted to)
