You mean mowing the lawn? I like mowing the lawn. It's relaxing. I love the hum of the lawn mower, and I love how it smells after.

used to mow for a golf course though and after a while you sort of get into a zen like contemplative trance

>>2242Of course they're not all bad. It's a bit more expensive than I'd like, but at least if the house needs painting again I won't need to lift a finger either. I think around 1/4th of the cost is property taxes being paid for me too.
I would never pick a place with higher fees than this though, probably wouldn't be that much cheaper if I did it all myself.

>>2245i live in a strata and its basically like the american hoa thing. i own the interior of a unit, they own the exteriors of them. i pay strata fees but they have a guy to put the bins on the street, they kill pigeons, they replace broken bits of stairways and so on
so once i put up a clothesline because i couldn't be bothered walking down to it all the time. just the line tied on one side to a drainage pipe and on the other side secured to a pole. and some old biddy knocked on my door and said i couldnt attach anything of my own to the exterior its against the rules
i said i'd take it down, i didn't, and i thought that was the end of it. but then a couple of months later the line was suddenly missing
i hope it was as much of a pain in the ass to tear down as it was to put up

>>2246> i own the interior of a unit, they own the exteriors of them. i pay strata fees but they have a guy to put the bins on the street, they kill pigeons, they replace broken bits of stairways and so onSee, that's at least an acceptable expense. In the US, HOAs pretty much do nothing and instead force you to abide by their rules at risk of potential eviction (at the very most extreme end). Mostly they just nag minor violations and collect fees. So basically they complain that you need to trim bushes and trees, collect their fees, and then you still have to pay to get that done yourself.

https://www.amazon.com/3M-WorkTunes-Protector-Bluetooth-Technology/dp/B0723CYHPZDecided to get these instead after seeing all the reviews suggesting them, and the noise suppression seemed to work really well at making the lawnmower's sound quite soft. Although I'm tard and forgot to charge them so I dunno the music quality yet...

>>2254Similar stuff was happening to my mower when I got a new one. The piece that attached the throttle line to the pull bar fell off, the metal wire was fraying, it refused to start a lot of the time, the motor assist was broken, and would spit out a lot of smoke. Nicest thing about the new one was how much lighter and easier to push it. The old one really sucked because my backyard was really, really hilly so pushing a ~35 lbs mower uphill really sucked.

Finally got around to mowing my lawn yesterday. It had got pretty high and was a pain to mow but at least I was able to get a new blade on it which helped. The other one had been on there for the last five years.
>>2254I haven't seen a lawnmower with a bag in well over 20 years. Family had one back when I was a kid and I still remember seeing plenty of people aorund my town using them then all of a sudden I never seen anyone ever using them again. A lot of people here even with tiny yards use riding lawnmowers because they're fat and lazy to move. Then I have a pretty decent sized yard out there push mowing for a couple of hours. I guess at least I'm getting some exercise compared to them.

Anyone under 60 or so seems to be aware that there's no such thing as a safe way to spray death around your lawn. But, lazy people still choose to coat their living environment with it.
It's something that never made sense to me when I was a kid and my mom would spray it around outside the house and I'd watch everything die and it would smell atrocious. I don't know how people thought it was safe

I wish I could permanently kill the grass and weeds in my yard and just have fake grass instead. Mowing grass is so fucking pointless. I don't even have a fucking weedeater and my landlord is getting pissed at how high the grass is getting along my fence.

If I get enough land I'll probably buy Shetland ponies or something like that. That way I can probably breed and sell them for a reasonable amount and not have to eat them or sell them for meat.
