Bring up issues for both Kissu UI.

The old HTML pages will be undergoing an update to a new templating language so I will be more receptive to resolving issues with it.

My ideal here is the following, but starting with new plans will take a bit of time.

Mod UI = dynamic binding QT C++
- Separate the moderator activity for better security practices
- I want to be able to make GUI again and potentially pick up my OpenGL knowledge(therefore there is no alternative to C++)
- Good stepping point for other desktop application ideas
API Server = HTTP2 Golang-Gin server interfacing with DB and Cache
- A simple REST API that issues information for clients
- Make use of HTTP2 websockets in place of certain types of polling
- Better progress feedback on uploads
- Instead of JSON files use Redis cache
- Vichan is built on JSON files already so switch to MongoDB
- Maintain legacy HTML pages
WASM UI = Redo with Solid instead of React
- Stay hip and with the times

I'm thinking that for this goal we're going to be looking into porting the Vichan SQL over to another database. I'm thinking Postgres but open to looking into other suggestions people bring up if they want

>>11834
Adjustments to this planning

ModUI: Tauri based GUI
API Server: HTTP2(3 ideally) Golang-Gin + Gorilla server
UI: Existing kissu-UI with a plan for a Tauri UI

If you're reading this my /qa/ - Quality Assurance is as follows:
You can use dots, you can use underscores, you cannot use dashes.
You can use anything on both vichan and newui that utilizes a span and a class. So while something may be .dice-box, and you can do s dice-box, this will not work. Sothing like #thing will not work because it's not a class, something like div.test will not work because it's not a span. Anything that has only a class but nothing else may be used as it will also work with spans.

Solution is obvious: add a list of approved items otherwise literally any class found in any of the css can be added. I already tried options_tab which severaly fucked up vichan due to blocking the screen. This is a bug for both UIs though, just not all classes affect both UIs. I left a cute little memory in /jp/ for new UI users. Although I've pestered you for years about vichan bugs I'm somewhat come around on the new UI other than a few annoyances such as the default theme feeling alien and [details] not having an onclick javascript event to check if you click outside it to close it automatically again.

For months I've been procrastinating about writing a "welcome to kissu" guide explaining stuff, but maybe it's better if it's a community thing to brainstorm a more thorough introduction to kissu. My idea for this is a basic thread where people can share information about kissu that newer users may be curious about, and then I can turn it into a page here somewhere or maybe an easily shareable image? People can ask questions, too, as that would probably be a good thing to see what people actually want to know. The goal is to make it a bit easier for newer people to acclimate to kissu and not feel alienated by references or allusions to things.

A thread on /b/ might be forgotten easily. I guess if that happens I can try on /qa/ instead.
So, uhh... what to do, what to do...

Hello kissu.moe user. You may have noticed that kissu is ad-free. That is because donations from users like you help keep kissu running smoothly. All we ask is a small, one-time donation of only 3 (THREE) piss bottles -- that's less than the price of another cat! With your help, the kissu community can not only maintain itself as a space for (kimo) cat posters, but can work towards our dream of building the kissu mansion, complete with catgirl maids. Thank you.

I was thinking about this a bit, and I guess one of the strengths of having a bunch of boards is finding specific threads. It's not exactly a secret that most people don't look past the first page normally, so those looking beyond that generally have a purpose in mind. They're looking for threads they either haven't seen yet (or forgot to reply to) while they were away, or they already have a reply in mind for a thread and they're looking for that specific thread. Basically there are older threads that people don't see "naturally" in the typical everyday experience.
Many people have tried to address this problem, but it seems unsolvable. The related threads thing on kissu is pretty cool, though!
Anyway, since you can't fix it, you could at least make it easier for people to find the threads they're looking for when they aren't aimlessly browsing. Right now someone can think "I have news to post about AI chatbots" or "wasn't there a thread about building a keyboard somewhere...?" and know where to find the thread they need without searching through the randomness of /qa/. From a UI perspective you want to reduce the amount of effort required as that's what keeps everyone on the first page of /all/ in the first place.
So, in that case I think /maho/'s existence can be justified. And if /maho/'s existence is justified, then maybe the seasonal boards/sekai/whatever can be justified. For a long time people held up tohno-chan's many boards as something to avoid, but I think /all/ means it doesn't matter too much on kissu, although this should probably be the last board (re)added for a long time.

the article you probably read said that in a normal environment outside of code competition it's still at a programmer under a year of exp. Programming can be spead up by code autowritting but creating an entire program is less strongly defined than a theme in an art piece.

And ai probably won't ever touch AI anyways because I have the opinion this stuff is mostly negative for a person to know.

Like, you need to have a masterful English vocabulary and theory to write a novel qnd understand why others a not as great. Having an AI perform chunks of cognitive action will only lead to a weaker writter. Same goes for art.

and like you could have used an AI image instead of a human drawn one.

AI assistance is good to increase functionality in software, but as a cost cutter and a timesaver I dunno how I feel about that

Would it be a good idea to make unlisted boards viewable on the overboard by a secret mechanism where you need to be on the hidden board itself for it to show up on the toggle hidden boards option? And it disappears from the list if you disable it outside the board so you don't run into issues or anything.
6 posts omitted. Click reply to view.

 No.12634

it defeats the purpose of the board so no. The only reason things go there is because I have to make a concious decision to look at what is on there. If it were to behave the same way /cry/ does then I'd have to look at it, because it's a main board and not a side thing I can ignore like megu

 No.12636

right... that was the main point I wanted to get across... as soon as a board is on /all/ you're making an actual effort to put it beside other posts. At which point you're just recreating the 4chan shit board problem.

Enable the API. Do intermittent checks for new posts in the API with JavaScript.
It's actually very easy if you know how vichan works. It has a simple auto-update in each thread you can enable which will refresh posts and notify you of new posts in that thread. If you only know JavaScript a little bit you could probably steal from that script to make a version that does something similar on the index without anything other than the title update.
