I do often wonder sometimes how much of the "tfw no gf" stuff is performative and how much is me just differing from the norm. I can understand loneliness from a having nobody to communicate with perspective, and I can understand lust from a wanting to jerk off perspective, but something I think I've never come to understand has been the romantic need perspective. I've considered the prospect of having a partner before and determined it's too much devoting myself to another person for me to want to engage in that aspect of life, and even then for the most part I have hard times envisioning myself with anyone in real life and most of my fantasies have involved some sort of conquest partnership with my waifu. Likewise I'm able to appreciate and enjoy romance anime for what they are and passionately root for and feel happiness about the cute couples in them without feeling any envy or bitterness myself, while I see others all the time talking about how watching those anime opens up a hole of despair in their hearts. All I want out of life is to be able to enjoy myself and appreciate the art and media other people create, with my only real desire being to create some game or story of my own one day.

When I think about this topic, it always reminds me of prior conversations we'd have in the past about failed norms vs true sages. But then there's been plenty of stuff I've seen strewn about the internet about "epidemics" of people without love and how it's a big social issue or whatnot. It's just that not feeling those supposed pangs of desire myself makes it hard to believe this stuff actually exists, or if it does is that big of an issue to people.

it's simply a cultural perspective.
normos judge their life by the standards of the culture they were raised in. So when culture dictates that you must have a girlfriend to be happy, they'll be constantly comparing themselves to that ideal and they'll be unhappy when they are unable to attain it. At the same time you probably have some cultural perceptions of happiness that are incomprehensible to the average person.
There are true benefits from having someone by your side, but it's not like happiness is unattainable otherwise. I have always been alone, but it's not like I wouldn't like to have a partner.

For me, when I hit the X, qbit is minimized to tray. And when I do "quit" it, it takes some time to completely shut down.

I don't mean the config setting to minimize like that, I mean that even quitting it the expected way still leaves the process hanging around after the GUI window's gone. It's visible in the system monitor that displays the processes. Sending an "end" signal to the process doesn't even shut it down, it has to be explicitly the "kill" signal.

I've reached the age, or did years ago, where I have to consciously attempt to avoid hiding in the comfort of nostalgia. It really is true that games used to be better, though. There's still good anime being released to keep me "with it" or something, and occasionally good indie games come out and I talk to younger people about them. I otherwise feel completely disconnected from the world, which might sound unusual in escapism entertainment. In the past people would bond over books, though, so I don't think it's too strange.

They say be the change you want to see, and that if you like something you should support it. So I preordered the MahoAko BD boxes including the limited edition one with the Baiser fig. Here's hoping we get more series that similarly strive for greatness and ecchi in the future.

https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/gp/product/B0CSKQYYDF

Kinda wish I had money 10 years ago like I do now to freely spend on BDs... Could've started amassing a collection a whole lot earlier and I'm sure there's a bunch of limited edition ones that I'll never be able to get my hands on. The effect buying them would have towards the old production would probably be minimal as well. Though, if I were to venture forth and try to make up for lost time while NEETing around does /qa/ know of any good place to find older stuff, or is it just eBay and Amazon? On that topic too, how much into merch or BD buying is /qa/?

It is in a way but it's hard to get people to understand what genre you mean without it, but also "RPG from japan" can mean a lot of games. "jrpg" has stereotypes associated with it (most of which have faded since the 2000s), but I guess the association still remains? See Yahtzee. I'm kind of surprised he's never faced accusation of xenophobia or outright racism for the way he feels about Japanese games as whole.
They should complain about this more.

 No.133620

>>103116
I like JRPGs more just because they're usually simpler. I've always enjoyed games that let you get into them with less effort on your part more.
WRPGs are generally more intricate affairs that try and give you a lot of mechanics to work with and immerse yourself in the world, but that far too often comes at a major playability cost.

>>103197
honestly, I always thought line-of-descent was the most useful one (at least, most useful for defining JRPGs -- any game that is structurally or mechanically descended from Dragon Quest is probably a candidate to be called a JRPG)
it's not perfect, but genres are almost never perfect

>>105242
it probably is, but that doesn't make it less usefully descriptive
it could be worse, you could absolutely be calling these games "DQ-likes", which is way harsher of a label

I'm not too big on RPGs in general. I find JRPGs easier to get into, but I rarely finish them. WRPGs tend to filter me more quickly, but if I like them, I always finish them. To add on, gambling based jobs don't require you to act in any manner that makes you feel like less of a human for doing. They just like when you make money and if you can make money you're good. You know when I think of the things I really love in games above anything else it's world design. It's why Hollow Knight is my favorite metroidvania and why that genre to me is one of my favorites. The Souls series has some pretty great world design of its own as well, with DeS, DS, BB, and ER being some of the best out there in the 3D space for world exploration. But then there's DS2 and DS3, the two least impressive of the series. I know it's conventional wisdom to normally take a big dump all over DS2 and passing marks are giving to DS3, but whenever I think back on the two of them, I can recall the layout of and how to manuever around the world of DS2 better than I can DS3. At least, in terms of variability. For some reason I always feel like DS3 is more a straight shot that is kinda boring because of it.

Am I just misremembering or is DS3 the weakest link in the Souls series that people give a pass for just being more like DS1 than DS2?

 No.137841>>137868

File:Hartmann's youkai girl.mp4 (499.59 KB,268x476) [play once] [loop]

I've only ever played DS1 and Hollow Knight, but I think I get where you come from on world design. A common theme in your picks are well designed hub areas and distinct regions playing off each other. Firelink Shrine goes to the Catacombs, Church, New Londo, Undead Burg, Valley of the Drakes, Blighttown, and the Kiln; each region being connected to the other as well with shortcuts and each path leads to very important areas for progression. Hollow Knight doesn't have a true hub area because you have the stag stations. Where it picks up is the region design and mapping with the whole map forming a sort of gradient with related adjacent areas; City of Tears is central seat of Hallownest with the lake above and sewers below, White Palace and Abyss deeper still, and Greenpath, Fungal Wastes, Queen's Gardens, and Fog Canyon are all in the same area and theming, and so on. This leads into good worldbuilding which can elevate a game or story. Music is also really important in conveying the atmosphere, I'd dare say it is THE most important aspect as even without graphics a good track can paint a picture in your mind. I mean Hollow Knight wouldn't be what it is without the music, but I digress.

If this reads as disjumbled then it is because I misread your post the first time.

 No.137867>>137868

Do you mean stuff like atmosphere and ambiance? If so, I agree that it's something that's really good when it's done well. It's one of the biggest strengths of the SMT games that really make you feel like you're in another world.
It takes a lot of talent to do something like that I think, for people to simply accept a new set of world rules and have it feel natural.

 No.137868

>>137867
Meant more than that. >>137841 was pretty much hit the nail on the head with the assumption of what I meant. Of course, atmosphere and ambiance play a critical role (also where music comes into play big time) but they can't really affect the core gameplay itself. The interconnectedness of the world however is probably one of the most important factors in truly unlocking an infinite replayability key that allows for infinite enjoyment of any of these games, at least for me. It gives an extremely rewarding feeling for exploration that I can feel excited in mapping out for each new playthrough I start up. Especially when you can exploit things like the master key in Dark Souls or bomb/wall jumping in Super Metroid to accomplish entirely different routes for playing.

When it comes to conversation it makes any playthrough fun to talk about because you can always discuss what route you took and what way it differs from others. Then in turn it also makes theorizing different ways to get to different areas/upgrades/bosses early fun as well. Think the last new game I played to have this feeling was Elden Ring when I was on my magic playthrough and skipping over to Raya Lucaria from the start to unlock the classes potential, and then taking the trap chest over in Limgrave to the Caelid mines so I can be next to where the one really good staff is and get that early. Or in any of the dozens of Hollow Knight playthroughs I did trying to get 100% steel soul/speedrun achievement trying to figure out what path was best for maximizing my chances of success.

Kissu's Palworld server is now online!

pals.kissu.moe:8211

We last played in January and there's been some big patches since then. For those who don't know, it's a third person building/Pokemon capturing game. I think the term is "open world crafting survival" or something, but it's Japanese so it's cute and quirky. People called it "Pokemon with guns", which is kind of true for the atmosphere but it's more than that.

I like how games like this are picking up steam despite their lack of super duper "modern" graphic. Makes the indie scene much more approachable to hobbyist devs and shows just how powerful fun gameplay can be towards how it's received. Maybe at some point in the future AAA takes notes, but I'd imagine not since they all want to be the forever money printer gacha like genshin because that's what raises stock value most. Feels like that industry, the AAA one, is due to collapse at some point soon... Then we'll probably see a huge surge in more indie studios popping up that'll be great for gaming in general.

PSX graphics are a bit of a fad in indie games lately. I don't hate them, but it's kind of "meh" to me. Generally those graphics have aged very terribly unless they were stylistic, which the indie games generally aren't. Good to see indie games find success, though, of course.

The new DLC releases in just a day and a half, have you beaten Mohg yet so that you can access it? Supposedly it's an all around improvement on everything that was already great with the base game and the world is enormous for being a DLC. I'm really hoping for it to be filled with little secrets and interconnectivity that makes for a great open world and was something that I sorta felt needed more polish in ER itself. Also I want it to be hard because I've gotten too good at games in recent years. AND I want more Ranni. Everything needs more Ranni.

By the way did you know there's an official spin-off gag manga about Elden Ring?

I’d never had a prostate exam before. I thought they just did that for old guys and I’m only 28. And the only thing that ever went up my butt was a thermometer when I was a baby.

I was pretty nervous when the doc told me to bend over the table. I was already naked from the rest of the exam, including the “turn your head and cough” part. I always worry I’ll get hard when he does that, and this time I could feel myself starting to a little.

He got a bunch of Vaseline on his finger and started rubbing it on my hole and I was shocked to find out how good it felt, even though it was cold. I had never played with myself there before, but this sure felt good.

Then I could feel him starting to push his finger in and I thought, “I wonder what this is going to feel like. I know some people like it. I wonder if I will. It sure feels weird.”

Well, he couldn’t seem to get his finger to go in. He kept rubbing it around and then pushing, which felt really good, but it was like my butt was saying, “No visitors!”

He told me to relax, which was kind of difficult because of all the sensations I was feeling. I think I was even getting hard! And that would be really embarrassing!

I tried to relax and suddenly it was like my butt suddenly surrendered and let him in. Oh! My! God! I’d never felt anything like it. I couldn’t help but groan. Maybe it was more of a moan, like a moan of absolute pleasure. I was immediately embarrassed. Did that sound like an orgasm? Does he think I’m gay and love anal sex? I’d never even considered such a thing!

As he felt around inside me he immediately found my prostate and I immediately felt myself get fully hard. It was amazing. I was very confused, too. Should a straight guy like this so much? It feels so weird. Do I want him to stop immediately? Or do I want him to keep going and see what happens?

This. There's nothing gay about getting your manwomb massaged and getting turned on by it.

If a man does it to you, you're gay. Sorry, that's them breaks.
If a shab does it then it's 100% straight and acceptable.

I realized I'm turning into a fat ass. What are some good ways to slim down?

Here's how it went for me (back when I used to workout):
¥started forcing myself to do even just pushups and situps daily
¥started with 10-10-10 sets of each, gradually increased the numbers
¥noticed visible changes on my appearance; felt good, wanted to keep it up
¥went for pushup progressions (diamond pushups etc)
¥bought secondhand weights for other heavy lifting stuff
¥couldn't skip a single day because it'd make what I'd done till now meaning less
Haven't been doing anything for the past year though, too busy with life....

i can somewhat attest to this
walked for 3-6 hours daily for a couple weeks (some of it more like hiking) and suddenly lost two kilos, when I hadn't been able to lose any noticeable amount of weight with running ~40 mins and working out in the previous months

I used to walk everyday between four and six AM but then some house owners, whose driveways are virtually inseparable from the public pathways where I walked, decided to install an alarm system.
